Document Generation for BOQ and Quote
Both the BOQ and the Project Quote can automatically generate a document by selecting the appropriate Language and Template.
Setting up Templates
Go to Setup > Custom Metadata Types > Template > Manage Record.
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Name | The template’s name. |
| Logo | The document Id of the uploaded logo file. |
| Logo Width | Width of the logo, in pixels. |
| Logo Height | Height of the logo, in pixels. |
| css | Custom CSS applied to elements in the template. |
Template Lines
Template Lines are the text components of the document — their name, text, and order can all be adapted. Order can only be adjusted to a limited extent, since some elements (like the header) always render in a fixed position in the document; otherwise, text modules are ordered by numbering.
Clicking a Text Template opens its settings, where you can set its type (for example, header) and the SOQL query that supplies its data.
Clicking one of the Text Template Entries lets you specify the language of that text — since different languages need different text blocks — and mark a block as the default display if it’s identical across all languages (bank details or an address, for example). Click Edit to enter the text that should appear in the document.
Activating a template for selection
For a template to be selectable on the BOQ or Quote, it must be activated in Object Manager: go to Fields & Relationships, and add the template under Values on the relevant picklist. It then appears in the template selection under that object.
