BC SpecifiQ User Guide
BC SpecifiQ lets you upload a specification document, review the extracted project data, and convert the result into Salesforce. Depending on the page configuration, the final output can be a BOQ, a Project Quote, or a Quote.
The process starts in the BC SpecifiQ Lightning web component and continues through a guided modal and the BC_Specifiq_Converter flow.
Where users start
- Inquiry records
- Project records
- Any record page where BC SpecifiQ is configured with a document ID field and at least one enabled target type
If no SpecifiQ document has been linked yet, the embedded frame opens in upload mode. If a document was already linked, the frame opens in view mode for the saved document.
Main stages in the process
1. Upload or review the specification
Inside the embedded SpecifiQ frame, upload the specification file, wait for extraction to complete, and review the extracted project and product information. When extraction finishes, Salesforce stores the returned SpecifiQ document ID on the current record.
2. Review the extracted project card
After extraction, Salesforce opens a modal with the extracted-card stage. Here you can review the extracted project details, link the extraction to an existing Project, or create a new Project when needed.
On Inquiry, this extracted-card stage is shown first. If a new Project is created during this step, the Inquiry is updated immediately so the Project lookup points to the created Project.
3. Choose the target object
If more than one output type is enabled on the page, you’re prompted to choose the conversion target: BOQ, Project Quote, or Quote. If only one target is enabled, this step is skipped automatically.
4. Select or create the participant
The converter flow may show participant-related steps before the target record is created. Depending on the context, you may select an existing project participant, create a participant, or continue with a participant already inferred from linked records.
5. Review the generated record form
The SpecifiQ Record Form screen prepopulates the target parent record using the selected conversion type, the SpecifiQ payload, the linked Project, the selected Account, Contact, and Participant, and the default pricebook configuration.
- BOQ conversion creates a BOQ parent record first.
- Project Quote conversion creates a Project Quote parent record first.
- Quote conversion creates a Quote parent record first.
6. Review product validation
Before child lines are created, the flow runs product validation. The validation screen shows how many extracted products were found, how many matched the configured Salesforce pricebook, and which products were missing. Missing products are skipped during conversion.
7. Finish the conversion
After validation, Salesforce creates the child records for the selected target type and opens the created parent record automatically.
What gets created
| Target | Records created |
|---|---|
| BOQ | A BOQ parent record plus BOQ child records. |
| Project Quote | A Project Quote parent record plus group and position records. |
| Quote | A standard Salesforce Quote plus Quote Line Items. |
Important business rules
- The page must be configured with at least one enabled target type.
- If the Quote feature is disabled in the org, Quote is not offered even when the page property is enabled.
- On Inquiry, the process can require a Project before you’re allowed to continue.
- Missing products do not block the flow, but they are skipped during record creation.
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Cause / resolution |
|---|---|
| The component shows a configuration error | Ask the admin to enable at least one target type on the Lightning page. |
| Quote is not available | The Quote option may be disabled on the page, or the Quote feature may be disabled in the org. |
| Can’t continue from the first modal step on Inquiry | The org may require a linked Project before the process can continue. |
| Some extracted products were not created | Review the Product Validation step for missing pricebook matches. |
