Win Projects for Building Material Manufacturers

Conceptuseradmin

Projects for building material manufacturers have a long sales cycle — from the first possible touch point (a permit filing, a tender notice, a lead from an external data provider) all the way to an order being placed, often a year or more later, and often with several competing companies involved at different points in the supply chain. Baucore is built around that reality: it tracks the Project as the central sales record, not the Account or the Opportunity, so everyone selling into it — Sales Reps, managers, and eventually finance — is working from the same picture of what’s actually happening on the ground.

The core objects, in order

  • Project Lead — unqualified project intelligence. Not every signal is worth a rep’s time, so a Project Lead exists to hold that information until someone decides to convert it to a real Project or reject it.
  • Project — the record a Sales Rep actually works: phase, traffic-light status, participants, quotes, and the eventual tender outcome all live here. See Manage Projects for how the pieces connect.
  • Main Project — an optional umbrella record grouping several related Projects or Project Leads under one larger programme.

What “managing” a Project actually involves

  • Create New Project and Project Lead — every new Project or Project Lead is checked against existing records first, to avoid duplicates before they happen.
  • Participants — every company and contact involved (architects, processors, dealers, competitors) is tracked as a Participant, which is what drives almost everything else: Opportunity creation, recommendations, and the eventual tender outcome.
  • Automated Project Monitoring — a traffic-light status system flags at-risk Projects automatically, so reps don’t have to remember to check on quiet ones.
  • Tender Submission Process — recording who actually won a Project is what feeds Loyalty, Performance, and Supply Chain intelligence for every account involved, on every future Project.

Two processes worth knowing about early

  • Inquiry to Quote — for the tender phase, when multiple companies need quotes for the same Project.
  • Submission Process — Baucore’s most important source of market intelligence; getting this configured (and used consistently) is what makes Loyalty, Performance, and Supply Chain accurate.
