Use Cases for Inquiry to Quote
Since a single Project can generate multiple Inquiries, Sales Reps often need to create multiple Quotes for different Processors or Distributors involved in that same Project. The Inquiry to Quote process makes handling several inquiries against one Project efficient instead of repetitive.
Example
For a hotel project at Munich Airport, Cindy — a back-office rep at Building Inc — receives inquiries from several companies with the same requirement.
The first inquiry comes from Tom, a possible Processor for the project. He sends Cindy the requirement document and asks for a quote. Cindy uses the Inquiry to Quote process on the Project to create the Inquiry, store the requirements in a Bill of Quantity (BOQ), and select the products needed to fulfill it. Product and quantity selection can even be handled by a different department at Building Inc. Once the requirement is calculated, Cindy creates a Quote from the calculation and sends the PDF to Tom.
Paul is also a Processor bidding on the same tender. He sends Cindy the same requirement. Because Cindy can easily identify the Project in Baucore, she runs the Inquiry to Quote process again — this time selecting the existing BOQ Calculation directly, so she can create Paul’s Quote immediately without redoing the requirements work.
