Use Project Navigator to analyze relationships

Conceptuser

Complex decision and participation structures on a project often distort the view. Listing these relationships with conventional means makes it hard to present this three-dimensional information in an understandable way. Project Navigator uses the network-display method known from social networks to present complex relationships in an understandable way — the data can be expanded further and further, and where there are shared connections, the graph links the nodes in a 1:1, 1:n, or n:1 relationship.

Use it to answer questions such as:

  • Who works predominantly on certain project types?
  • Which companies win more often than others on comparable project sizes?
  • Which project types or contract sums are more successful than others, and who serves them?

…along with many other answers that are difficult to find any other way and would otherwise take much more effort.

By separating conditions into a project query and a participant query, the system automatically generates an AND condition between them, so any combination can be built easily.

Where to find it

Project Navigator appears in several places in Baucore, for example:

  • The Participants tab of a Project.
  • A Project Lead.
  • The Project Navigator tab.

Reading the graph

Shapes:

  • Squares = projects
  • Circles = participating companies

Square (project) colors:

ColorMeaning
BlueStill in progress
GreenWon
RedLost to a competitor

Circle (participant) colors come from the Stakeholder Color field on the Account object. This value can be customized by your administrator — for example, based on Customer Classification.

Connecting line colors (between a project and a participant) reflect participant status:

ColorParticipant status
BlueStill in progress
GreenParticipant has won for our product
OrangeParticipant lost the project
RedParticipant has won for a competitor

Exploring the network

Double-click one or more participants (circles) to display their joint projects. Click a project (square) to reveal its corresponding participants. This way, you can open the relationship network step by step and analyze the complex relationships of your business partners, as well as graphically represent their won and lost projects.

For a more specific view, use the coarse filter settings on the Project Navigator tab, or the Account filter.
